Description
The first listing on the Register from Mississippi is an impressive example of a tower design that was constructed only on the National Forests in the Gulf States and even there was not common.
The 100’ steel Moore Lookout Tower is topped with a hip roof 12’ x 12’ wooden cab with catwalk. The stair sections are long and mounted on the outside of the tower frame, unlike the familiar 7’x 7’ tower with internal stairs. Built by a local contractor and a CCC crew, it is located on the Bienville National Forest.
