Built on the Tonto National Forest in 1936, Diamond Point Lookout is a Region 3 version of the famous L-4 (and different in many ways). Located at 6157’ on a 30’ Pacific Coast Steel tower with 12’x12’ cab without catwalk, this 1936 lookout replaced a wooden platform tower built in 1924. The active lookout is in the vicinity of the Zane Grey cabin that burned in the Dude fire several years ago.
