Description

It is hard to find a more beautiful lookout location than Baker Point on the Sequoia National Forest in California's southern Sierras. Originally reached only by a difficult trail (two mules were killed during construction in 1950), The current hike from the trailhead is 2 miles and relatively easy.

Baker Point Lookout offers spectacular views. Currently used only in emergencies and still a key radio repeater site, the 14' x 14' BC-301 cab with catwalk is on a 20' wooden tower.

An adjacent ground house was built in 1943 for likely Aircraft Warning Service use during WWII.
