Bunker Hill Lookout is a one-of-a-kind structure built by Joe Bauman who was a long time Forest Service employee in 1942. The original station on the Eldorado National Forest was a 14’x14’ live-in R-5 cab. Later it was one of three sites selected to receive this special stone tower (the other two are on the Lassen and the Los Padres National Forests).

Comments: | Looks to be manned seasonally. Road is gated quite a ways from the lookout (to keep vandals out?) so it takes a bit to get up there. Is centrally located in the forest and has a commnading view though it was quite hazy looking out towards the sacramento valley. |
Electronics and Enroachments |
|
Are electronic sites enroaching on tower? | No |
Comments: | Three antennas on the building would indicate it is used as a repeater site for the Forest Service |
Other enroachments? | Fairly small detached weather station located nearby. |

Comments? | There is a sign on the turnoff just before the road leading up to the lookout. No other signs noted and forest service map was not particularly accurate on the area. |
