Description

The first Hot Springs Mountain Lookout was a 7’x7’ ground house constructed by the Cleveland National Forest in 1912. It was replaced in 1928 by a 4AR 14’x14’ cab on a 23’ timber tower. The tower was upgraded again in 1942 with a Region 5 design C-3 cab and new 20’ tower. The lookout is located on San Diego County’s highest peak and the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. The reservation has recently re-opened to public visitation.
