Jordan Peak Lookout has hosted a lookout since at least 1923.

From 1934 to 2020, the site was adorned by a Region 1-style cabin on a 20-foot X-Brace steel tower. The tower was modified and enclosed in 1970, receiving metal siding as part of the work. Inactive in 1999 and 2000, Jordan Lookout returned to active service in 2001. With an excellent view of the Tule River drainage in the Sequoia National Forest, the lookout covers a growing second home interface area. This version of Jordan Peak was destroyed by fire during the SQF Complex Incident on September 14, 2020.

Due to the importance of the site in observing wildfires, the U.S. Forest Service decided to reconstruct it using funds from a disaster relief supplemental appropriation bill. Design work on a replacement began October 2024. The new tower is visually similar to its predecessor but constructed of more fire-resistant materials. Construction on the new tower began in May 2025 and was completed in Fall 2026.
