Description

Described as the oldest and only surviving rock tower with cab in California, Lake Mountain Lookout has been in continuous operation since 1912. The original 15’ x15’ stone groundhouse roof was modified in 1933 with the addition of a 14’x14’ R-1 wooden hip-roofed cab and a catwalk. The CCC crew that built the cab also constructed the Lake Mountain Trail up to the summit.
