Description
The first lookout on Red Mountain near the Mexican border was built by the state in 1921, and replaced by the CCC in the 1930s with an L-4 cab on a 10’ wooden tower. The current 15’x15’ R5/C3 cab on a 10’ enclosed tower was built by CDF in 1973 and staffed until 1977. The structure now houses radio equipment.
