Description
The tower for the Whites Mesa Lookout in Mesa Verde National Park was moved from the Apache National Forest in 1963. The Park Service used only the lower 30' of the Aermotor tower with a 14'x14' platform. In 1964 a 7'x7' steel cab was added in the middle of the platform.
As of 2019, this unusual lookout’s tower is in good condition but “the wooden platforms[...] could use replacement”. The condition of the cab exterior and roof are in good condition. The cab interior is in fair condition “been stripped of equipment and needs painting”.
