Southside Forestry Fire Lookout is an 100-foot Aermotor steel tower. Originally built by the State of Florida and known as the Flagler Fire Tower, it was moved to the present site and renamed "Southside" in 1938.
This tower was one of two in Jacksonville city limits. The other tower, Jacksonville Heights, has been removed. While the Southside tower is not open to the public, it remains in good shape with all ladders and cab windows remaining.
