Description
The first lookout was a tent camp posted on Idaho’s Anderson Butte in 1914. In the early 1930s, an L-4 lookout was placed on the summit on a short tower. The current structure, an L-4 with catwalk on a 53’ timber tower, was built in 1953 and is staffed on an emergency basis. It is the last lookout of its type on the Nez Perce National Forest.
