Description
Black Mountain's first lookout was constructed in 1921, a Region 5 Plan 4A cabin on a short open timber tower. It was replace in 1935 with an Region 1/L-4 cabin on a 40 foot pole tower.
The current structure, a Region 6 Flat Top on a 53 foot open timber tower, was constructed in 1963 at Faset Peak and moved to Black Mountain in 1975.
The lookout survived vandal damage to it's tower legs and was moved to a new location 1/2 mile ENE of the original site in 2019 with a plan to add it to the recreational rental program.
