Description
Burnt Knob Lookout’s name reflects the fire history of the area. Located on the edge of the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness in the Nez Perce National Forest, the site was first used in 1922 when an alidade was placed on the summit. The unique L-5 log lookout cabin was built in 1930 and staffed until the 1960s. It is maintained for emergency use.
