Built in 1934, this L-4 cab rests on a foundation made of log cribbing. Due to its remote location, requiring a boat to cross the Salmon River and a 6-mile hike with over 5,000 feet of elevation gain, this tower is rarely visited. It is believed to have been staffed during the 1960s and 1970s.
Twice a year, former lookout Dr. Phillip Krueger of Boise, Idaho, visits the lookout to open and close it for the season.
