Description

Castle Butte Lookout went into service on the Clearwater National Forest as a frame cabin in 1916. In 1928 it was replaced with an R-1 log cabin with cupola. The present 14’x14’ L-4 cab with catwalk on a 10’ stone base was built in 1950. Recently rehabbed, it is now in the recreation rental system.
