Description

The first lookout on Middle Sister Peak located in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest was a log cupola cabin built in 1923. It was replaced in 1951 with a L-4 lookout atop a 35’ tower which accidentally burned two years later. The present 30’ L-4 cab atop a 30’ tower with dimension timber legs was built in 1954 and remained active until 1989. Since 1992 it has been staffed and restored by volunteers.
