According to Dean Alger's book, Indiana's Historic Fire Towers.
1954 the Indiana Division of Forestry moved the Borden Fire Tower, located in Clark County, Indiana, to its current location in Washington County, Indiana. After being moved the fire tower was renamed the Salem Fire Tower, and it helped the state protect more than 150,000 acres of timber from forest fires. This steel fire tower has four legs, it is 80 feet tall, and it has been painted silver (see Figure 17). Today the tower is on private property, not in a state park or forest; however, the Jackson-Washington State Forest is nearby.
Ron Kenmow August 11, 1954: "The Indiana Department of Conservation announces that personnel of the Division of Forestry has moved the 80-foot Borden Fire Tower, in Clark county, to a more favorable location about 8 miles north of Salem in Washington county. In its new location the tower will connect the Skyline Tower in Jackson State Forest and the fire tower in Clark County State Forest, giving added protection to more than 150,000 acres."
