Description

In the flat piney forests of central Louisiana where 100' trees stretch for miles in all directions, it takes a tall tower to see out over the top and the LA Dept. of Agriculture and Forestry has one in Woodworth Fire Tower. Located on the Alexander State Forest, Woodworth has been the site of a tower for years, but the current 175' Aermotor with 7x7 cab was not constructed until 1951. To withstand the hurricane winds that sometimes rake the area, the structure is set on four huge concrete foundations measuring 10’ x 10’ by 15’ deep.
