Description

Constructed in 1939 by the CCC, Charlton Fire Tower is a 60’ Aermotor steel tower with a “perched” 10’x10’ wood cab. The site was first used for fire detection in 1914 as a bare knob secondary station atop Little Mugget hill. The first tower was a 48’ structure built in 1917. It was destroyed in the Great Hurricane of 1938.
