Description

One of the first lookouts constructed in Maryland (1921), Thayerville Fire Tower is located on Deep Creek Lake State Park. The current 100’ steel Aermotor tower with a 7’x7’ metal cab was built in 1938. Last used for fire detection in 1993, it has been restored. A plaque honoring forest wardens and fire towers was installed October 15, 2006.

Thayerville Fire Tower is open on a weekly basis during the summer. Contact Deep Creek Lake State Park for details.
