The Paret Fire Tower is a 100’ Aermotor steel tower with metal 7’x7’ cab built in 1934 by a CCC unit with enrollees from New Jersey. Located on the former Black Warrior Ranger District of the DeSoto National Forest, it views a 16,000-acre National Forest tract used as a firing range by the National Guard. It is one of the few remaining of about 50 state and federal fire towers in southern Mississippi.
