Description
Located in the Purcell Mountains on the Kootenai National Forest, Blue Mountain Lookout was used as a lookout point in the early 1920s. In 1928 a one-room residence ground house was built, followed in 1935 with a 80' steel tower with 7' x 7' metal cab erected by the CCC. In 1940 a new ground house was constructed. The tower and ground living quarters remain in active service.
