Description

One of the few Active L-4 lookouts on the Kootenai National Forest, Meadow Mountain is now staffed by the Montana State Division Division of Forestry in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service which built the structure in 1957. The first people to staff the lookout when it went in service in 1958 were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Griffith. The 14' x 14' cab with catwalk on a 10' wood tower has been well maintained and remains active.

Comments: Weather beaten, some vandalism, but less than would be expected. Open but no longer staffed for at least 10 years. Challenging drive, 4WD highly recommended.
