In 1925 the Kootenai National Forest constructed a stone and frame cupola lookout atop Mount Henry, replacing it with the current L-4 14' x 14' cab with catwalk on a 10' log tower in 1942. Mt. Henry Lookout was abandoned n 1973 but later reactivated as a result of increased fire danger resulting from beetle infestations. Now used only in emergencies, the lookout was partially restored in the 1990s.
