Description

The first lookout on this site was a D-6 cupola in 1925. The current Richards Peak Lookout on the Lolo National Forest is an R-6 flattop with catwalk on a 10’ concrete block base and is staffed by the state. Richards Peak was named after the first lookout on the peak, a man by the name of Richards. He was killed in action in France in World War I. Richards Peak lies in the upper Thompson River country.
