Yellow Mountain Lookout is a 14'x14' wooden cab with a steep pyramid roof atop an 8' stone base. Once a common sight in the southern Appalachians, this design has all but disappeared. Unused for 20 years, the structure has been restored by volunteers and the staff of the Highland Ranger District of the Nantahala National Forest.
