Description

Located not far from the Concord, New Hampshire’s capitol, Oak Hill is an example of the importance of early fire detection in the ever expanding urban/wildland interface. The 55' steel tower was constructed in 1928 it incorporated a new design feature: an observation platform for visitors just below the cab. The tower was raised 10' in 1971 and eventually went into irregular operation. It was returned to full service in 1991, at first with a volunteer lookout, and then as part of the state network.
