Description

The original Cedar Bridge Fire Tower was built seven miles south of the present location in 1924. It was moved three more times, coming to the present site on County Route 539 in 1983. The 100’ International Derrick steel tower with 7’x7’ metal cab has an unusual wooden gable roof. This is due to the fact that the tower fell over years ago and the original roof was heavily damaged. The NJ Forest Fire Service replaced the roof themselves, with a more traditional peaked roof (we thank John Bensch for this additional information). The tower is still in active service.
