Description
The first facility at Hillsboro Peak Lookout was a wooden tower built in the early 1920s. In 1925 a log ground house was added and is still there although the Gila National Forest replaced it with a modern metal ground quarters in 1965. The 45.9’ Aermotor MC-40 tower with 7’x7’ metal cab was erected in 1933.
