The first lookout at Mt. Withington on the Cibola National Forest was a D-6 cupola built in 1934. It served for 18 years and was replaced with the present station in 1952. It is another example of a special R-3 design of a 14’x14’ cab with slightly sloped gable roof on top of a 10’ concrete block base. A catwalk was added later.
