Description

The Belfry Fire Tower overlooks the Champlain Valley and the Green Mountains of Vermont to the east. To the west the high peaks of the Adirondack Park are visible and include Hurricane fire tower. The fire tower was closed in 1988.

Comments: Belfry Fire Tower is one of the more easily accessible fire towers in the Adirondacks. As such it is visited often and it has a significant amount of graffiti on the structure, particularly inside the cab and also on the rock ledges on the ground. All need to be painted over as well as the entire tower needs paint. Numerous communications equipment pieces are on the tower making painting difficult.
