The structure on Bramley Mountain is an 80-foot Aermotor LS40 tower erected by the Conservation Department in 1950. Bramley Mt. lies 2 1/2 miles south of the Hamlet of Bloomville in Delaware County. There are public trails to the site of the tower.
With the advent of aerial detection, this tower was closed at the end of the 1970 season. It was sold for $50 and removed from the mountaintop in 1975 by the Clark family. The family kept the tower in storage in hopes of putting it up on their land. The summit of Bramley mountain is currently owned by NYC DEP. In January of 2020, a Friends of Bramley Mountain group formed and the Clark family donated the tower to the group to be placed back at its original location. Despite several set backs, the tower was returned to the mountaintop in the Fall of 2024, the only tower to be removed and then returned to its original location nearly 50 years later.
