Description
Another Ohio restoration is the Atkinson Ridge Fire Tower on the Zaleski State Forest. Built in 1929 this 60’ Aermotor tower with a 7’x7’ metal cab was recently restored by the fire tower restoration project of the Ohio Division of Forestry with the cooperation of the Ohio Division of the Forest Fire Lookout Association.

| Comments: | Condition of tower overall is excellent. There is only one step that is sketchy. It is on the seventh flight of stairs. I am 250 lbs and it still held my weight fine, however, I would like to see it get replaced. The cab seems to be in excellent shape, although it was locked when I went today. I peaked through the trap door and it look imaculent on the inside, with newly replaced boards for the floor of the cab. I would be interested in providing the materials needed and installing the board as well if I could get the proper contact information. |

| Comments? | Easy to find, plenty of parking, picnic tables, and campfires around lookout. Very nice place for a family cookout or reunion. |

Unsure, but it is definitely not staffed for a fire lookout. I could see it being staffed for visitation by travelers so that they can gain access to the cab without worry of vandalization.
