Description
The outrigger hip roof L-4 ground house without catwalk at Harl Butte was built in 1954, replacing another L-4 dating from 1934. The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest site overlooks the lower reaches of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area and is in active service.

| Comments: | Overall, it was in good shape, with normal wear and tear on the floor and furniture. |

| Other enroachments? | There is a portable weather station over the rock wall that is distracting and the blue port-a-potty is a bit tacky, if more usefull on this rocky gound than a traditional outhouse. |
