Description

Hat Point Lookout on the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area (part of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest) is a well known attraction and viewpoint. A 60' pole tower with 7'x7' cab was built in 1916. In 1948 it was replaced by this 82' treated timber tower with an L-6 7'x7' cab with catwalk. In the 1980s the tower was extensively restored with an observation deck added at the 60' level.
