Located with the Bull Run Watershed of the Mt. Hood National Forest, few people have visited Hickman Lookout because access is only with an official escort. First established as a tent camp lookout in 1906, a 40' tower with 7' x 7' cab was built in 1933, with a ground quarters added later. In 1952 the current classic L-4 with catwalk on a 41' timber tower was constructed and remains in active service. It is apparently the last L-4 lookout constructed in Oregon.
