Lookout Details
Description
Hikers to Oregon’s lllahee Rock Lookout in the Umpqua National Forest near Crater Lake National Park will also find an informal museum of lookout artifacts in the older cupola lookout (1922). The adjacent 20’ tower with 14’ x 14’ live-in cab and catwalk was constructed in 1955 and is still staffed each year. The cupola was shortened some years ago, but remains an example of the fast-disappearing D-6 structures.
