Description
One of the newest fire lookouts in Oregon, Parker Mountain Lookout was built in 1997 replacing a historic 30’ tower constructed in 1934 and upgraded in 1958. The original lookout was a pole timber tower with an almost A-frame cab built by the CCC. It had a very poor design. The second lookout was constructed on a steel tower with the standard ODF cab and was destroyed by vandals in 1996. This Oregon Dept. of Forestry station with 50’ steel tower with a 14’x14’ flattop cab and catwalk is still in active service.
