Description
In 1922 a crows nest was established in a 30-foot tall tree. The 70-foot tall Aermotor type LX-24 tower with a 7x7 cab was erected in 1927. This is the oldest lookout structure remaining on the National Forest and the only 6'x6' Aermotor constructed on the Forest. In 1939 the tower was modified by the installation of a stairway on the inside of the tower. Not many LX-24 Aermotors were built in Oregon. Another that comes to mind was at Slide Mountain in Lake County.
