Description
The western-most lookout on the Fremont National Forest, Spodue Mountain Lookout (sometimes call Black Hills Lookout) first went into service in 1965 and remains active. It is a 15’x15’ R-6 flattop live-in cab with catwalk on a 41’ treated timber tower.

I was the individual who staffed the Fire Lookout on the Spodue tower in SE Oregon (2018-2019 seasons). It was a highlight of my personal life and professional career, and would hope individuals find the location as breathtaking as I did!
