Description

Walker Mountain was used as a patrol lookout as early as 1907, by 1913 a crows nest was established in a tree. In 1915 the stone cabin, used for living quarters, was begun and by the end of the season was fully enclosed. In 1919 a pole tower approximately 25 feet tall with a small 6x6 windowless cab was erected. In 1932 a road was constructed to the summit and the new steel tower construction was begun in the Fall and not completed until the next year (1933). Both are intact and maintained. The 35 steel tower with hip-roof L-4 14’x14 cab with catwalk was constructed in 1932. The stone cabin was restored in 2005.
