The Wheeler Fire Tower on the Allegheny National Forest is an unusual Blaw-Knox tower with 7’x7’ metal cab. Built in 1923, the tower has sloping legs until the last four sections which are vertical.
The tower is located in the Hearts Content Recreation Area, an area designated as a National Natural Landmark, that was one of the first tracts acquired for Allegheny National Forest upon its founding in 1923.
