Description

Pinnacle Lookout has been landmark above Unicoi, Tennessee for 75 years. The Cherokee National Forest station is a 14’x14’ live in wooden tower with catwalk on a 40’ steel tower. Last staffed in the 1980s, it has been restored by the Friends of Pinnacle Tower including a grant from the FFLA. See link below for photo of restored tower.

Comments: First flight of stairs taken down, roof has at least one big hole, most glass out, steel seems in pretty good shape. Tower has a fence around it, but the gate is open.

Electronics and Enroachments
Are electronic sites enroaching on tower? Yes
Comments: This is the only tower of this type I have seen in my area, with a full cab and catwalk. There was talk of taking off the cab and making this a recreation area with the tower as a lookout w/no cab, but I have heard nothing more and that was a year or two ago.
Other enroachments? Several dishes on tower, one cellular tower and building sitting almost on top of the tower.
