Description

Established in 1913, Burke Mountain is the second oldest lookout site in Vermont. The current 54’ Aermotor tower with 7’ x 7’ steel cab is the fourth to grace the summit. It replaced a wooden tower with a unique octagonal wooden cab that was blown down in the great hurricane of 1937. Deactivated in the 1970s, the tower was given a facelift in 1990 by the FAA in exchange for hanging a microwave dish. Located in the Darling State Forest, it is open to the public.
