Lookout Details
Description
Still the domain of mountain goats and sweeping vistas of the Washington Cascade Range, the site of the aptly named Alpine Lookout on the Wenatchee National Forest was first used for fire detection in 1920 when an outdoor alidade, phone, and tent were set up. In 1936 a L-4 groundhouse was constructed with an oversize stone base. The structure was replaced in 1975 with a 15’x 15’ standard R-6 flattop cab which remains in active service today and is only accessible by trail.
