Description

The first road and trail to Tams Mountain Tower was built in 1933 under a federal law designed to provide “forest work” during the Great Depression. The 80’ Aermotor tower with 7’ x 7’ cab was built by the CCC the following year, along with a log cabin observer quarters. Located on Beaver Coal Company lands, the WV Division of Forestry tower is now used only in emergencies.
