Description
In 1922, Homestake Mining Company of Lead, South Dakota utilized a tall, pine tree to use as a fire lookout and named the tree Moskee Lookout after the nearby logging camp.
In 1936, the pine tree was replaced with a steel, platform and the pine tree used for firewood. The platform remains standing and is still used occasionally for the detection of forest fires. The site has been renamed Homestake Fire Lookout.
