The original Colcord Lookout was a 50’ Aermotor tower with 7’ x 7’ cab. Three years later, in 1928, a second Aermotor tower, 35’ tall with a 7’ x 7’ cab, was erected and apparently both were operated at the same time. Sometime after 1965 both towers, plus a CCC ground living quarters, were removed and the present 83’ steel tower built. It has a 14’ x 14’ CL-100 series metal flat roof cab with catwalk. The lookout is staffed by the Pleasant Valley Ranger District of the Tonto National Forest.
