A landmark in the mountains of southwest Colorado since 1942, Jersey Jim Lookout is located on the San Juan National Forest at an elevation of nearly 10,000 feet. The original tower, constructed of local spruce, was replaced with a 55’ treated timber tower with a large 15’X15’ live-in cab in 1964. No longer used solely for fire detection, the lookout is available for vacation rentals through the U.S. Forest Service and the Jersey Jim Foundation.
According to a 2019 report, the condition of tower is good and the cab exterior and roof are in excellent condition. Condition of cab interior is excellent.
