Lookout Details
Description
The Nez Perce National Forest built Shissler Peak Lookout in 1933. It was an L-4 cab on a pole tower. In l953 the current 1936 model L-4 with catwalk was constructed on a 10’ treated timber tower. Shissler Peak sits above the confluence of Moose Creek and the Selway River within the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Area in the Nez Perce National Forest. Shissler is regularly staffed for fire detection.
